John Coleman began his career as an insurance regulator with the State of Ohio in 1982 following his graduation from The Ohio State University. In 1989, he joined California Federal Bank in Los Angeles where he held management positions in Internal Audit and Information Systems. Following the sale of CalFed in 1997, John was named Senior Vice President, Director of Information Technology at Citibank Banamex USA, a business unit of Citigroup Inc. Since leaving Citi in 2008, Coleman held positions as CIO at Sigue Corporation and Senior Associate at AuditOne before assuming his role in 2012 as Executive Vice President and CIO of Grandpoint Bank in Los Angeles, currently Pacific Premier Bank.
Over the course of his professional career in heavily-regulated industries, John has accumulated extensive experience and a record of outstanding achievement in IT, information security, operations, and internal control. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Coleman has been actively involved in building information sharing alliances between area banks, law enforcement, technology companies, and industry groups. John is active in industry events as a panel leader, speaker, and organizer. He currently serves on the Board and Leadership Council of SecureTheVillage, a Southern California nonprofit dedicated to fostering cyber awareness and helping businesses and nonprofits in their efforts to improve information security. Coleman also serves on the Board of Crystal Stairs, a Los Angeles nonprofit providing early childhood education, childcare services, and supportive assistance to economically disadvantaged families in underserved communities. John was recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a finalist for the 2016 CIO of the Year in their annual CIO/CTO awards presentation.
