Financial institutions must have reliable identity verification controls to comply with KYC regulations and protect customer accounts against the increasing risks of social engineering and cyber fraud. In his presentation, Mr. McCarty will be discussing ID verification technologies currently in use, their strengths and weaknesses, and the types of exploits being used to defeat existing identity verification methods. He will also describe how increasing demand for online and mobile financial services is driving change, and provide an overview of an innovative new technology from Unum ID that could significantly improve identity verification both now and in the future.

Liam McCarty is Co-Founder of Unum ID, a company that provides sharified (shared, verified) identity technology for financial services. He’s author of Data and Power, a book that explores the dangers of centralized big data technologies and motivates his current work at Unum ID. Liam has a degree in Physics from Stanford University.
