September Discussion Leader: Bill Leider, Managing Partner at Axies Group. ( https://www.linkedin.com/in/bill-leider-7a970a/)

September Discussion Topic: Change the Cybersecurity Narrative. Learn to speak the language of business disruption.

About the discussion: If we are to capture people’s attention and desire to act on cybersecurity, we must change our language and the framing of our cybersecurity narrative. To do that we must look through the lens of the organizations and people so we can see what they see. Only then can we build a narrative that resonates.

What we know today:

  • Cybercrime is rising more rapidly than our current capability for preventing it.

  • Aided by AI, Cybercrime is increasing at a pace beyond our imagination ever predicted it – faster than developers of AI imagined.

  • Getting ahead of that growth in the short term is impossible. We must first set our sights on catching up with the growth in order not to fall further behind in the race to widespread safety.

  • People and organizations in the cybersecurity industry are currently investing a substantial amount of human and capital resources and are, for the most part, seeing marginal success.

  • No branch of government can protect us. We must do it ourselves.

What we must change:

  • We must change our language and the framing of our narrative about cybersecurity to capture peoples’ attention and desire to act.

  • To do that we must look through the lens of the organizations and people so we can see what they see. Only then can we build a narrative that resonates.

Today we’ll begin to achieve that.
